Thirty years of expertise as a Trader, Software Developer and Technology Executive
Originally from Wales in the United Kingdom, over the past three decades Mr. Thomas has enjoyed a long career in the Financial Services Industry in the United States as a trader, software developer and technology executive, working with banks, proprietary trading companies , brokerage companies and Fintech companies in senior roles. Some highlights of his career to date include the following. In 1998 Mr. Thomas designed and developed the first Web Browser based order entry platform in the Commodity Futures industry for a Chicago Futures Brokerage and Clearing firm. From 2000 to 2002 Mr. Thomas was the Chief Technology Officer for what was at the time, one of the largest Proprietary Trading and Equity Option market making firms in the world, with responsibility for all aspects of Technology at the firm including a staff of over 100 technology professionals. From 2002 to 2008 Mr. Thomas served as a Managing Director for a Chicago based subsidiary of TD Bank, one of the largest Banks in Canada, in several roles including Chief Technology Officer, and acting as the head of an algorithmic trading group.
Since starting Thomas Consulting Services in 2007, Mr. Thomas has also acted as Chief Technology Officer for a Futures Proprietary Trading Company in Chicago, and in 2016 Mr. Thomas founded a Fintech company in Chicago named Primal Quant LLC which provided next generation trading strategy design and testing tools to online retail traders without the need for the trader to have any programming experience or knowledge. At Primal Quant Mr. Thomas was responsible for all aspects of application design and development, including Graphical User Interface and database designs. In October of 2018, the company received an “Innovator” award at the FIA Futures and Options Conference in Chicago. In 2020 Mr. Thomas became the Chief Technology Officer for Rapunzl Investments LLC, a Chicago based Fintech company. Rapunzl gamifies financial markets with real-time, simulated investment competitions in a community where users learn how to invest in a risk-free environment on their mobile devices.
